Newly Engaged | Sanibel Photographer

Newly Engaged | Sanibel Photographer

I am seriously behind on my blog posts!  I’ve had so many sessions lately, it’s been hard to keep up.  But enough with the excuses, and on to catching up!

I recently got to spend the day on Sanibel, being the photographer for the most awesome and beautiful people.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day, and just perfect for spending an entire day on the beach.  It didn’t even matter that I was working!  The temperature was about 70-75 degrees, there were dolphins playing right on the shore all day, and for some reason it wasn’t terribly crowded.  January through April is Southwest Florida’s “snowbird season”, and Sanibel is a hot-spot for many vacationers as well.  In fact, a few of my sessions that day were people visiting from out of state, or even out of the country.  And who could blame them?  While most places are dealing with snow, and freezing temperatures, we’re soaking up the sunshine.

Ok, enough bragging about how wonderful it is to be a Sanibel photographer.  On to the details of this lovely, newly-engaged couple’s session.  Meet Crystal and Matt.  They’re tying the knot in a couple of months, and were just so obviously in love.  A lot of times you have to spend some time loosening people up before they can act naturally in front of the camera, which is especially hard with a mini-session like this one.  But that wasn’t necessary with these two.  It was like I wasn’t even there!  Which I absolutely love, as a photographer.  In any other situation, I might take offense.  Ha!

Well, just see for yourself.  These photos really speak for themselves.  And these are just a few of the many awesome photos I got of these gorgeous people, and in just 30 minutes.

Congrats to Crystal and Matt!  I have no doubt that you will have a long and happy life together.  🙂

The “T” Family | Cape Coral Family Photographer

The “T” Family | Cape Coral Family Photographer

Meet the “T” Family!  I had such a great time with this group, and can officially call myself a Cape Coral family photographer.  It’s such a beautiful place, and not far from where I live, but I generally don’t visit Cape Coral too often because I get lost every time.  And I mean, every single time!  I usually have a pretty good sense of direction, and of course there’s GPS, but I don’t know what it is about that place that gets me so lost.  Luckily, this time wasn’t too bad.  🙂

We started off at one of the most beautiful parks I’ve seen in this area.  It was right on the water, and instead of a sandy beach, the shore was lined with big, pretty rocks.  Perfect for photos!  There were little, almost private sections with picnic tables and grills all along the shoreline, with plenty of gorgeous trees covering all of it.  In the center of the park was a playground for the kids, too.  I would love to go and spend a day there with my family!  I was so happy to have been introduced to this place.

When the family arrived we got straight to work.  The mother was a former model, and the oldest daughter was currently, so they needed no help striking a pose!  We got tons of family shots at that spot with the warm afternoon sun, and then headed over to our second location.

Mrs. “T” requested sunset pictures on the beach, and recommended another place I’d never been.  I was thrilled when we arrived, because it was absolutely beautiful there.  It was a little chilly there that night, for Florida, anyway, but that didn’t stop us!  We got some beautiful sunset photos, and even some fun silhouettes!  I’d say it was a pretty perfect session.  And hey, now I can call myself a Cape Coral family photographer who doesn’t always get lost.  🙂

Here are some of the highlights from our session!

Braden’s Turning Two | Bonita Springs Family Photographer

Braden’s Turning Two | Bonita Springs Family Photographer

Hidden in Bonita Springs, Florida is one of my absolute favorite parks to take pictures. For a Bonita Springs family photographer, it really has it all. Beautiful landscape full of trees, a dock and gorgeous red bridge over the river, and an abandoned railroad track. When I was asked to do Braden’s two year photos, I knew right away that this was the perfect spot. Two year olds are infamous for their high energy, and low patience. I knew we needed plenty of space to run, and even more options for backdrops. This place had it all for a little boy, and his three-year-old brother, Collin.

We started off by letting the boys cut loose at the playground, and then it was straight to work. I wanted to start with the railroad tracks, since it was a little late in the morning, and the harsh mid-day light was already creeping in. There was only one little remaining spot of shade left on the tracks, which left me with the unfortunate requirement of shooting from the bridged portion of the tracks. I have an insane fear of heights, and did I mention that these tracks were abandoned? It probably wasn’t the smartest idea, but I already had the shots in mind, and they came out great! So I consider it a risk worth taking.

Once we were nice and dirty from the rusty railroad tracks, it was time for a wardrobe and scenery change. While Braden and his mom got ready, I got some fun shots of Collin with one of my props, which thankfully enticed Braden to pose with the prop as well. That quickly became boring, so we attempted our picnic scene by the river, with the red bridge in the background. This was a no-go until we decided that it would be much more fun if we could throw leaves in the air! Then the boys spotted the dock across the river, and we just HAD to go see if we could see any fish. This made for some great shots of both of them! We finished off the session with some bribery so we could get “two-themed” photos for the birthday party invite, and then we just played.Two-year-old boyTwo-year-old boy

With boys (or girls) this age, the best shots are always the ones where they’re allowed to just play. You get to see their natural expressions, and genuine joy. And that’s what you really want to see when you look back at the memories of your babies when they’re grown. Besides, have you ever seen the reaction of a toddler after telling them to do something they’re not interested in doing? 🙂

As a photographer, I love visiting in Sanibel Florida.  I live about an hour from there, so I like to do several mini-sessions and make a day of it!  It’s so beautiful out there, and there are so many photogenic backdrops to choose from.  My mini-sessions are typically 30 minutes long, and I’ve never had a problem getting plenty of images that my clients love!

This couple, Katie and Brandon, was so much fun to work with!  Even though we just did a mini-session, they came prepared with a couple of different wardrobe changes.  They traveled even farther than I did, from Naples, just to have their photos done in beautiful Sanibel, FL.

Here are a few highlights from their session.  How gorgeous are they?  Can’t you just tell how in love they are?

Among the MANY photos we took, they requested a shot of them making “sand angels” to send to their northern family and friends.  This is why they have sweatshirts and hats on in one of the photos – it was really 80 degrees out that day!

They showed up a little late to the session, and unfortunately I had another group scheduled right after them, so I asked if they wanted to reschedule or stick around until the next one was done.  Nope!  With their wardrobe changes in hand, we rushed around to several different spots, got in all of the fun shots in different outfits, and had TONS of great photos in just about 20 minutes!  It was like speed photography!  One of my most fun session yet.

Introducing Mr. “B” | Cape Coral Newborn Photography

Introducing Mr. “B” | Cape Coral Newborn Photography

Introducing Mr. “B”!  Yesterday he was 11 days new, and such a little cutie!!  I wanted to share a couple of the photos I was able to capture of this beautiful baby boy, so you can share in the experience.  I had the pleasure of doing his parents’ maternity session at the end of last year, so meeting him yesterday was so exciting!

Is he not just absolutely gorgeous?  I just love those pouty lips and that dimpled chin!  He was quite alert for such a young man, too.  Not usually ideal conditions for photographing these beauties, but I was so happy to be able to snuggle with him during his awake time, and his parents were nice enough to put up with me for several hours so we could get the amazing sleepy shots as well.

It’s so true what they say – these little creatures grow up SO fast!  I know from personal experience, having an 18-month-old, an 11-(almost 12)-year-old, and a 16-year-old.  Even with my youngest, I seriously can’t remember him being as small as Baby B.  But he was!  That’s why it’s truly so important to get those photos while they are.  And hire a pro so Mom and Dad can get in there, too!

If you or someone you know is expecting a little bundle of joy, contact me to discuss and schedule your cape coral newborn photography session!  You’ll never regret having these priceless photos of your newly-enhanced family, or your ever-changing family member!  And neither will your new son or daughter.  I desperately wish there were photos like these of me when I was a newborn.  It’s an investment you’ll never regret!

Please contact me and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.  Now, back to working on this beautiful boy’s gallery!
